The Story

The Doorward

There's a gate in one of the Old Town closes that still gets shut every night, though nobody's quite sure why — the buildings either side of it have been through-routes for years, nothing left to protect. Whoever's meant to be minding it has apparently been minding it a very long time. Regulars say the close feels watched in a way that isn't unpleasant. Just noticed.

Custodians say it likes a doorway, any doorway, and that visitors seem to feel a little more welcome for it, empty room or not.
